Obituary

October 9, 1948 - August 21, 2026

Margaret Castañeda, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026.

Margaret spent much of her life caring for others, giving back to her community, and standing up for people who needed a voice. She was proud of the contributions she made to her community and the difference she was able to make in the lives of others. She was a dedicated advocate in education and brought that same compassion and determination into her personal life. She was someone you could count on for support, encouragement, or simply to be there when you needed her.

Family meant everything to Margaret. She shared nearly 44 years of marriage with her loving husband, David, and carried his memory with her throughout the years that followed his passing. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply and was incredibly proud of each of them. She was a source of strength, guidance, and love for her family, and the lessons she taught us will stay with us for generations.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, David; her parents; her sister, Gloria Diaz; and her brother, Tony Topete.

She is survived by her three children: Lisa Castañeda, and her children, Julia and Jacob; David Castañeda, and his children, Jerry, Tony, Luis, Annie, and his grandchildren, Ariana and Anthony David; and Kimberly Castañeda, and her children, Aidan, Magdalene, and Niko. Margaret is survived by her brother, Harry Topete; her sisters, Lupe Topete, Helen Baeza, Rebecca Alaniz, and Rosey Hernandez; as well as extended family and many friends who loved her dearly.

We will remember Margaret for her strength, her caring heart, her commitment to her community, and the love she gave so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the impact she had on her family, her community, and those whose lives she touched will remain.

She was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
