Obituary

Nolan Donald Johnson was born on October 5, 1984 in Santa Rosa, California to Margaret and Glenn Johnson. He died on April 24, 2016 in Clovis, California, with his brother at his side. He moved with his family to Fresno, California when he was four years old and spent the rest of his life in that city.

Nolan attended Forkner Elementary, Tenaya Middle School and Bullard High School. He took culinary arts classes at Fresno City College. He was a cook at various restaurants for the past 8 years. He also worked at the Meat Market and Walgreen's Drugs prior to becoming a cook.
Holy Spirit Church meant a lot to Nolan. He couldn't wait until he was old enough to be an altar server and he served at Sunday Mass and many other special occasions from the time he was in third grade until he was in high school.

Nolan was a good friend, especially to his life-long best friend, Dr. Jordan Howard. They spent many happy times, from kindergarten to the present, hanging out, playing video games and just having good times together. Nolan was also a good listener, giving out advice if asked and just listening to his friends, if that was what was needed. Nolan was always helpful to people, especially those less fortunate than he. He also was always interested in what his many cousins were doing with their lives and he enjoyed participating in the frequent family gatherings, often helping out with barbecuing and other cooking chores.

Nolan is pre-deceased by his father, Glenn R. Johnson; his maternal grandparents, Otto and Theresa Burgmeier; his paternal grandparents, Don and Marge Johnson; and many great-aunts and uncles, all who were waiting for him when he entered the Kingdom of Heaven.

Nolan is survived by his mother, Margaret Johnson and his brother, Nick Johnson and his wife, Carla, all of Fresno; his aunts and uncles – Eleanor and Bill Breite of South San Francisco, CA; Lillian and Ray Brunton of Sonoma, CA; Ann and Armond Rist of St. Helena, CA; Richard and Diana Johnson of Kelseyville, Ca; and many cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anandit Mu for all of her kind and thoughtful care of Nolan for the last few years. We would also like to thank Dr. Eric Steinbrueck for his kindness and extremely caring attitude during Nolan's last days at Clovis Community Hospital.
Services will be at Holy Spirit Church 355 East Champlain Drive Fresno, CA 93730 on Monday, May 16, 2016. Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 AM and Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM.

Both the Fresno Rescue Mission and Holy Spirit Catholic Church held special places in Nolan's heart and donations may be made to the Fresno Rescue Mission P.O. Box 1422 Fresno, Ca 93716-1422 or to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
