Obituary

Sylvia Sälcé Moore entered eternal rest in Fresno, Ca. on June 28, 2016 after a long bout with liver cancer. She was born in Santa Rita, N.M. on March 23, 1949 to Rafael and Francisca Salce.

She attended Santa Rita Catholic School in her early grades and graduated eighth grade from Sully Grade School. She was a 1968 graduate of Cobre High School.

Sylvia's passions were spoiling her grandchildren, sewing, cooking, and watching her SF 49ers and Giants. She could design and sew everything from baby rompers to wedding dresses. Most, if not all, the babies in the family own one of her baby blankets. Her homemade tortillas and tamales were her trademark at many meals especially during Christmas.

Sylvia was a devout Catholic. Her winter vacations
were spent in Bayard, NM so she could join the Our Lady of Fatima parishioners in the 'posadas.'

Possessing a stubborn streak, she wanted things her way,
but if they didn't happen the way she expected, her favorite comeback was, 'Dios no lo quiso asi.'

In 1973 she married and moved to Fresno. Several years later the family moved to YNP and she worked for Yosemite Curry Company as a tourist event planner and Spanish interpreter. After relocating back to Fresno, she was employed by the Fresno VA Hospital as a cook for the guest cafeteria from 1981-1986. From 1986 to 2002, she was employed by Fresno County EOC as a cook for the Meals on Wheels Campaigns. She medically retired in 2002.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her Grandmother Francisquita whom she loved; her parents Rafael and Francisca 'Kika'; her brother Jesse, husband Ray, son, Richard, and nephews Raymond Salce and Patrick Montoya.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter Marie Yvonne (Bonnie) Pascoe (Thomas Brad); son Martin (Amber); longtime friend, companion, and love of her life Jesse Damian. Grandchildren: Stone Thomas and Duke Walker Pascoe, Michael Joseph, Christopher Ray, LisaMarie Yvonne Moore, Jose Alfredo Fuentes and Raymond Eugene Moore whom she had legal guardianship for many years of their young lives, Zion Domenick Moore and Sierra Henry. Great-granddaughter Anastasia-Kay Fuentes. Adopted family in love and friendship; Victor Sanchez, Sheena Nester, and their son Jason with whom she lived with for the past five years; Brother Ralph Salce (Candy) of Springerville, Ariz.; sisters Gloria Montoya (Paul) of Mimbres, Olga Chavez (Archie) and Amanda Teran of Bayard, Llolanda Salce of Mira Loma, Calif., Belma Burns (Russel) of Springfield, Mo. Three
